Frequently Asked Questions
Why do some services require a credit monitoring subscription?
In order to provide the best possible service we need a reliable credit monitoring service that integrates with our system.
By requiring clients for certain services to get the same credit monitoring service, it allows us to work efficiently and keep pricess down.
Refer to your service plan(s) to see if a separate subscription is required. When a plan is required, one affordable price gets you:
- All 3 Credit Bureau Reports
- All 3 Credit Bureau Scores
- Monthly Updates
- Extensive Finance Tools
- And much more

Do I have to print & mail my dispute letters?
Absolutely not. Many other credit repair companies put the burden on the customer to print and mail their own letters. This is a team sport, so while we do expect you to participate in the process, we take care of the grunt work, including creating, printing, and mailing letters for you.
Can I repair my own credit?
You sure can. You can also do your own taxes, repair your own vehicle, and even treat yourself for medical condition, but sometimes you’re simply better off letting a professional handle it.
Many people attempt it themselves, though they often find it’s alot more work or causes bigger problems than anticipated.
We have a process that has been proven to be effective and efficient. If you want to monitor and protect your credit yourself, that’s your right protected under law. Just know that if you attempt on your own and then come to us, we may not be able to help you.
Is it okay to apply with credit while working with Credit Defenders?
We can’t control what you do. You get to decide, for better or worse, what you do. Credit repair is a TEAM SPORT. This means communication and working together is imperitive.
We strongly encourage clients to consult us for any plans to apply for credit. This allows us to guide you on what, if any, credit is best to apply to for your credit report.
Not only can inquiries from credit applications negatively impact your credit, but the wrong accounts at the wrong time can do damage as well.
We have let clients go do to unnecessary credit applications, so we ask that we’re consulted on this so we can continue working together towards your goals.
How much does credit repair cost?
Like many things, technically you can do it yourself, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to save you money or time. We keep our pricing simple. No tricks or gimmicks like others in the industry. One affordable price covers everything needed to improve your credit report and score. To see current pricing, visit our services page here.
Is credit repair legal?
Absolutely! Not only is credit repair legal, it’s also ethical and a consumer’s right that’s protected under various laws, including The Fair Credit Report Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, and Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA).
How much do I need to pay to get started?
Zero dollars. Nothing. Nada. FREE. Take our advice and work on your credit yourself or let the experts here at Credit Defenders handle it. There’s absolutely no obligation, and no credit card needed to get the help you deserve. We not only offer a free consultation (with no hard sell), but we also offer a Dispute Letter Generator at no cost!
Just know that if you attempt on your own and then come to us, we may not be able to help you.
How will I know my progress?
You’ll have access to a secure client portal, where you can see your progress, scores, upload documents, and communicate with your Credit Restoration Specialist.
If I pay a collection, will my credit worthiness increase?
In general, no. A collection remaining on your credit report and being updated as paid does NOT help your credit.
If you are going to pay a collection, we recommend demanding pay-for-delete, so the negative account is removed from your report. Learn more about handling collection accounts here.
Do you offer any free credit repair services or products?
We sure do! We offer a FREE Credit Evaluation so we can determine if you’re a good candidate for credit repair and building.
Unlike others in the industry, there’s no trial to sign up for, no credit card required, and absolutely no hard sell.
Here’s what you’ll get for free:
- Credit Report
- FICO Score
- 30 minute consultation
We also offer our Auto Dispute Letter Generator at no cost to you!
Do you have a money back guarantee?
Yes! We’re so confident in our services that we offer an unrivaled 90 day PLUS 30 day money back guarantee! We will never promise results. We recommend steering clear of anyone that does. What we promise is a simple and quick refund if we don’t meet your expectations.
Removing negative items can take some time and multiple follow ups with the bureaus, this is why we recommend sticking with us for 90 days before requesting a refund. Read our entire 90/30 guarantee here.
How long does it take to see my credit score increase?
There is no magic number. Every client and situation is different. We typically see postive results within 90 days. Some see incredible results after just one round, while others take several months of work to see progress.
With our industry leading client portal, you’ll always know what is currently being worked on and it’s current status.
What's different between you and others?
Many other CROs (Credit Repair Organizations) use templated, cookie-cutter disputes that many others in the industry are using. This results in them being inneffective.
We do a few things differently:
- All of our challenges are customized for every single letter.
- When we dispute, we use our own templates that we alter.
- We have a network of attornies to take action on your behalf and hold bureaus, collectors, and creditors accountable for their actions… AT NO COST TO YOU!
- We focus on challenging the accurate reporting of the account, based on METRO2 standards (the communication standard the bureau’s back-end systems use). This differs compared to standard disputes and has the benefit of of not only being effective on accounts with inaccurate information, but also on accounts with accurate information that fail to adhere to METRO2 compliance.
Do you provide discounts for a household or couple?
We do not. We are already affordably priced while providing top notch service. We’re not willing to sacrifice our client care or our quality, so without raising prices, we’re unable to offer a discount.
We would love to help you acheive your goals. If you’re ready to take action and move forward, then sign up for your FREE action plan today!
We have a process that has been proven to be effective and efficient. If you want to give it a go yourself, that’s your right protected under law. Just know that if you attempt on your own and then come to us, we may not be able to help you for a year or two.
Do you limit the number of dispute/challenges?
We provide unlimited challenges. No cap like other credit repair organizations. Every client’s situation is different and will require a different approach (this is why we start with an in-depth, comprehensive analysis).
We utilize two different approaches – challenges and disputes – depending on what’s needed to get the best results fast.
Disputing:
While we will dispute an unlimited amount, we do have a proven, systematic approach that we’ve found we get the best results with. On the first round we typically start with 15 items (5 per bureau) and then we will asses increasing from there.
Challenging:
When challenging, we attack every eligible item for each round.
Most of our clients begin with an aggressive challenging sequence to get results as fast as possible.
Can you remove inquiries from my credit report?
Yes, though it’s not always necessary like people often think. Inquiries account for 10% of your FICO Credit Score and also effect your Vantage scores. Whether or not they’re negatively impacting your credit report varies on multiple factors. Our credit experts will assess your report and determine appropriate action.
Will deleted items get added back to my credit report?
Due to our process, this is uncommon, but it’s important to know that disputed items do sometimes reappear after being removed. This typically happens when an account gets sold to another debt collector. If this happens, just know we will take appropriate action to have it removed again. One way to prevent this is to settle the account for a fraction of what’s owed and demand pay-for-delete. The Fair Credit Reporting Act mandates that the credit bureaus notify you before adding an item back that was previously deleted.
Can you remove a bankruptcy from my credit report?
Yes! A chapter 13 bankruptcy typically stays on the consumer’s credit report for 7 years, while a chapter 7 stays for 10 years!
We can’t promise it will be removed early, but while others say it’s impossible, we have proven otherwise.
Can I cancel my membership at any time?
No long term commitments here. While we hope you stick with us long enough to reach your goals, you’re free to cancel any time.
With our done-for-you credit restoration, you are billed monthly in arrears (this means your payment is for the previous month’s work).
